Yorkville Park ReDesign
Dubbed ‘Park Allongé’, this concept was the result of a group studio project at the University of Guelph in 2019. Our design was inspired by the forms of disposable coffee cup lids and Yorkville’s history of music and coffeehouses.
Allongé refers both to the park’s drawn out form and purpose of drawing in park users. Our design percolates and amplifies these vibrations with coffeehouse virtues to create a year-round public gathering space.
Allongé serves as commentary on the demands of daily city life, and invites people to slow down and have some park with their coffee. All in all, Allongé celebrates the role of coffee in Toronto’s past and creates a gathering place for precious little moments and coffee breaks well into the future.
