Transit Maps

Network Map

It's hard to believe that Toronto  does not have a regional rapid transit map. The region has dozens of transit agencies, each with their own map and wayfinding strategy.

Inspired by both Massimo Vignelli’s NYC Subways map and the London Underground map, this design bridges the gap between the region's two largest transit providers, outlining what transit in our region could be.

An earlier version of this map was also featured on BlogTO- Toronto's premier daily web blog.

Rapid Transit Through Toronto's Core

In a recent poll done by the Toronto Star, more than half of the city's residents want a subway Relief Line. Much to Toronto's dismay, this line may never be built because it's to expensive, and does not have the political backing. That's a shame. This map displays a light-rail transit line- dubbed the Compromise Line- that would run on existing streetcar tracks with it's own lane. It's not an alternative to the Relief Line, but it is something can be done in the short term for little money. Can we have this while we wait for true Relief?
