Garden Together

The term community gardening conjures up images of fresh-vegetables, watering cans, sunshine, and smiling faces. In addition to delightful imagery, community gardening may prove to be a forceful tool in ending hunger, empowering low-income populations, building cross-cultural connections, combating climate change and fighting species extinction. While COVID-19 has advanced the urgency of the situation, the demand for community gardening predates the pandemic. Today, we face a myriad of global challenges, and we must reconsider the role of community gardening in society. We must look at ways we can transform our cities to allow us more opportunities to garden for good. The montage image above was created to articulate the spectrum of opportunities for community gardening. We really can garden together - everywhere!
