Map of Garafraxa
This studio piece was inspired by James Corner’s mapping of the American Landscapes. Our instructor at Guelph gave us a series of aerial photographs of rural southern Ontario, and asked us to map the invisible.
When one mentions rural Southern Ontario, gravel roads, corn fields, and old barns come to mind before ravines, marshes, forests, and drumlins. This map calls attention to the natural features that; despite being largely invisible to us; drive the anthropogenic uses and forms found in the landscape.
